Monday

Collective Meeting (starts at 7pm)

Where brains meet and decisions are made. The Purple Thistle is run by a group of young people who use the space. If you want to propose a new group, get more involved in the Thistle, or ask us questions. Come down to a meeting. Everyone is welcome.

Screen Printing (4-7pm, non-workshop)

Learn how to burn screens and screen print your t-shirts, patches and more.

Alternative Processes (4:30-6:30pm, non-workshop)

Weekly workshop series that explores furthuring the limits of the moving image. images will be created entirely through abandoned photographic processes and techniques without reliance on current technology. participants are encouraged to bring along ideas or projects to further, discuss, and work from. contact: info@purplethistle.ca or chris.brabant@gmail.com to register. space is limited.

RAIN: Radical Art In Nature Guerrilla Art (12-2pm)

“abolishing the gap between art and life” we are a bunch of youth who are here to make art! all sorts of it, every kind! and to take it to the streets. to share. to engage in art and culture. public space is our space.

Young Gunz (3-5pm)

An open studio group for 11-15 year olds. Photography, screen printing, writing workshops and more. Please note: there is a waiting list for this group.

Lester’s Army (7-10pm)

A writing project that offers classes and produces a brilliant magazine bringing youth and seniors together. Contact Leni: editor@lestersarmy.com

The Thistle is a youth-run arts and activism centre. We operate in four main ways: We are open in the afternoons and evenings for drop-in. Please see signs on the door, big white board and website for hours. We run classes and projects of all kinds. There is lots of information available about what’s going on and how to sign up. If it isn’t totally obvious, ask someone.

We run full-time, paid training programs during the day, focused around arts, community work and/or publishing. If you are interested, write matt@purplethistle.ca Also, lots of groups, big and small, use the space for meetings, conferences, gatherings or as a work-space. You are welcome to meet here, just run it past the collective.
