The Thistle is again open for drop-in during weekday hours.
However, we’re currently not hosting the usual workshops- we are in the process of revising things for the Winter/Spring session.
The one exception to this is our painting workshop, on Monday evening (see page footer for details)

If you are able to teach any workshops, and are interested in doing so at the Thistle, feel free to drop in to our weekly Monday meeting (7pm)

We’ll post schedule details here once we have them, so check back from time to time!

EVENT: Revolutionary art history/making this SUNDAY, January 10th, from 10am - 3pm,
There will be a free workshop/presentation about Revolutionary Art- the first half will focus on the history-of-, while the second half will focus on the making-of-, feel free to drop by!

The Thistle is a youth-run arts and activism centre. We operate in four main ways: We are open in the afternoons and evenings for drop-in. Please see signs on the door, big white board and website for hours. We run classes and projects of all kinds. There is lots of information available about what’s going on and how to sign up. If it isn’t totally obvious, ask someone.

We run full-time, paid training programs during the day, focused around arts, community work and/or publishing. If you are interested, write matt@purplethistle.ca Also, lots of groups, big and small, use the space for meetings, conferences, gatherings or as a work-space. You are welcome to meet here, just run it past the collective.

Alternative Processes


WED 4:30-6:30pm

Weekly workshop series that explores furthuring the limits of the moving image. images will be created entirely through abandoned photographic processes and techniques without reliance on current technology. participants are encouraged to bring along ideas or projects to further, discuss, and work from.
